If you are a student who needs to work all night to prepare for an exam and finish a project, Evansdale Library will be the place for you this fall.

Beginning September 29, the Evansdale Library will be open around the clock for most of the week. The library will open at 11 a.m. Sunday and remain open until 8 p.m. Friday, and will operate 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday.

“Students have asked for the Libraries to be open 24-hours, and we think the Evansdale Library is best suited for meeting the request,” Interim Dean of Libraries Myra N. Lowe said.

Traditionally, Evansdale and the Downtown Campus Library have stayed open until 2 a.m. five days a week during the regular academic year.

This fall will be a trial period for the new hours at Evansdale. If it proves popular, the schedule will continue through the spring semester, Lowe said.

“If students show that there is a need for Evansdale Library to be open around the clock, we will be open for them,” Lowe said.

The extended hours will give students an additional 27.5 hours a week to access the library’s computers, group study rooms, books, periodicals and other resources. To enter the library after 11 p.m., a student must have his or her WVU ID.
