Copy Services & Fees

Copies of all materials in the West Virginia and Regional History Collection are subject to the Conditions for Duplication of Materials in the West Virginia and Regional History Collection.

Books and Periodicals:

Books and periodicals in the West Virginia and Regional History Collection’s main reading room may be copied on the coin-operated photocopy machine located adjacent to the microfilm readers on a self-service basis.
The charge for copies is $.10.

Rare Materials:

Archives and manuscripts, photographs and other rare materials restricted to use in the Stealey Manuscripts Reading Room may be copied only by the staff of the West Virginia and Regional History Collection.
The charge for copies is $.25 per copy.
Copying will be permitted only if the original document is sufficiently stable to withstand the stress of photocopying.
The West Virginia and Regional History Collection reserves the right to limit the number of copies provided per patron to 50 per day.

Microfilm:

Copies of materials on microfilm may be made using the microfilm reading and printing equipment in the microfilm reading area.
The charge for copies printed from microfilm is $.10, payable at the Registration Desk.
Duplicate copies of West Virginia newspaper microfilms that were microfilmed by the WVRHC are available at a charge of $75 per roll. Microfilm Reproduction Request Form

Photographs

Photographs may be ordered on site, via the internet or through correspondence. The following rates are current as of August 2005, but are subject to change.

Prints: (per copy)

3.5 x 5 - $5.00
5 x 7 - $8.00
8 x 10 - $12.00
11 x 14 - $35.00
16 x 20 - $55.00

Digital Files: (per copy)

For originals up to 11 x 17 if no master digital file exists: $10.00
For originals up to 11 x 17 if master digital file exists: $5.00
For originals greater than 11 x 17: Cost recovery plus $20.00 minimum service charge
Editing digital files: $20.00 minimum service charge

Slides: 35mm (per copy): $5.00

Processing Fee: We reserve the right to charge $20.00 per hour for labor required to process special requests.

Shipping and Handling: $3.00

Audiovisuals

Sound Recordings:

All audio reproduction requests are to be prepaid.
For each audio cassette, reel-to-reel tape used as a source for reproduction, an $18.00 fee will be assessed for a single side, $28.00 for both sides.
For each CD used as a source for reproduction, an $10.00 fee will be assessed.
For requests of compilation sound recordings involving multiple source recordings, a $20 per hour minimum engineering fee will be accessed.
Prices are current as of August 2006 but are subject to change.
Publication fees will be accessed on a case-by-case basis.

Videocassettes and motion pictures:

Cost recovery plus $20/hr service charge

Publication Use Fees

All use fees are for one time, non-exclusive use. The WVRHC does not grant open ended permission for future editions or other uses. The WVRHC never grants exclusive rights.

Research Service

The West Virginia Collection will accept limited requests to locate and copy specific pieces of information (e.g. a newspaper obituary) for researchers unable to come to Morgantown. As staff resources are limited, requests must be simple and specific. The cost of this service is $20.00 per request plus $.25 per copy (includes postage and handling).

For researchers in need of more in-depth assistance, a list of local researchers who work for hire is available upon request.
