Information Literacy and English 103: Accelerated Academic Writing

In English 103, you’ll be asked to do quite a bit of writing. You’ll also be asked to do college-level research; this research will go beyond the casual use of Google and other search engines.

In meeting the goals for English 103, you’ll be required to:

  • find and evaluate resource material appropriately;
  • interpret and integrate resource material appropriately;
  • use academic citation systems to document work; understand the need for and logic of such systems.

Reaching these goals will not only help you to produce quality research essays for English 103, but will also enable you to become a more information literate student, researcher, and life-long learner.

The research log assignments are designed to help you reach these goals and become a savvy information consumer. These assignments are graded by librarians using this rubric.
