Computers

Logging In

  • You must be registered as a student for the current semester, a current faculty member, a WVU staff employee, or a registered resident borrower to be allowed to use library computers.
  • Students log in using their Mix Address as User Name and their birth day plus the last four characters of their WVUID as a password. 
  • Faculty and staff log in using their GroupWise ID as User Name and their birth day plus the last four characters of their WVUID as a password.
  • Library authentication is simply a yes/no verification and is not intended to track or monitor the applications used or internet sites visited by a particular user.

E-mail attachments must be saved to “My Documents” before you edit them.

There are a total of 363 computers in the WVU Libraries system:

  • Downtown Campus Library - 244 computers
    • 150 public workstations
    • 30 in the computer classroom (open when class is not in session) (Guidelines & Policies for the Downtown Campus Library Computer Classroom (Room 136) (April 2006: PDF))
    • 4 in private group viewing rooms you can reserve at Media Services
    • 60 laptops
  • Evansdale Library - 69 computers
    • 51 public workstations
    • 20 laptops
  • Health Sciences Library - 50 computers(with Center for Computer Based Learning)
