In providing a teaching and research resource for the entire University, the Collection reflects most of the University's disciplines. Among the subject areas included in the Africana Collection are agriculture, anthropology and sociology, art, economics, folklore, history, international relations, language, law, literature, medicine and health, music, politics, and religion. The regional emphases of the collection are materials pertaining to Africa and peoples of African descent in all the Americas. The Africana Collection was founded and developed by Robert F. Munn, Dean of Libraries from 1957 to 1986, and enhanced by the donated personal library of Grace Edwards Waters, a distinguished Morgantown educator.
