FAQ

  • Why am I asked for a password?

Usually when you are asked for a password, it means the West Virginia University Libraries have not paid for access to that particular content. However, there are some health sciences titles which are password accessible only. Please ask at the Reference Desk for passwords.

  • How do I access electronic journals from off campus?

Use the electronic journal page or MountainLynx to determine which journal titles are available. When you click on an electronic resource on the electronic journals page, you will be asked to authenticate. Follow those directions.

  • In the Browse eJournals by subject, I don’t like the subject category some of the titles are entered under. Can you change that?

No. We are limited to the subject sort provided by our vendor (Serials Solutions).

  • The web page shows I should have access to a certain year but I am unable to access the article. What should I do?

Report errors like these to either Linda.Blake or Susanne.Rasmussen (for health sciences titles).

  • What should I do if I can’t find the article I need in the electronic journals?

First, check MountainLynx to see if the Libraries have a print copy. If not, then use Interlibrary Loan to borrow the article from another library.

  • How do I recommend a periodical title for purchase as an electronic journal?
