Library Cards

To checkout library materials, users must have either a Mountaineer Card or a WVU library card.

It is not necessary to obtain a library card to view materials within the library.

Students, faculty, & staff of WVU may borrow materials from the WVU Libraries by presenting a valid WVU Library Card/ID to borrow materials.

To obtain a WVU library card, residents must present a valid WV photo ID and proof of address, and pay an annual $50.00 fee. To borrow books, a resident user must present the library card and a photo ID.

Out of state users may apply for a nonresident card. Non-residents follow the same procedures as West Virginia residents (with a valid photo ID from their state) and pay an annual $75.00 fee.

Borrowing privileges may vary in some branch libraries. Lists of special policies are available at individual libraries.

Please report lost or stolen cards to the Circulation Department and the Mountaineer Card office.
